Design for Service - selling value rather than goods & services

18 March, 2015 - 13:00 - 17:00

The world is changing fast and there are higher demands on companies and industries in almost all areas nowadays. During this seminar, we will challenge the ingrained thought patterns, and for example, discuss the meaning of the roles of "customer" and "supplier" from new perspectives, and concretize what it can mean to sell "value" instead of "goods and services" - tanks relevant to both the small as the larger company.

To this afternoon we have invited Sten Grahn, who does research in the areas of Product and Production development at Mälardalen University and Swerea IVF. Sten will give us a picture of trends in business development, and clarify how we can use this new knowledge in the company.

Points during the seminar:
• Trends and Challenges: Tougher requirements in the environment, technology, customer requirements - we are moving towards a "Superstar Economy" where only a few companies will dominate different markets? We look at trends and consequences of these.
• Retail value instead of goods and services, an opportunity to meet the challenges: How do you define value, and how do you measure value? We get methods and go through examples.
• Practical exercise: A company should buy equipment and services for production. Scenario: The Company may only purchase the "value" is desired from the equipment and services. Another company will sell equipment and services for production. Scenario: The company may only sell the 'value' of the goods and services are meant to deliver. You are the buyers and sellers - how do you proceed?
• Why is this a way to meet the challenges? Concluding discussion - the meaning of dealing with the "value" and what it has importance in managing future challenges.
