Douglas Trumbull's in town. Come and experience ultra-reality!

21 April, 2011 - 11:17

Welcome to listen to and mingle with Douglas Trumbull, one of the legends in visual effects.

Together with MEDEA we give you this fantastic opportunity to meet a man who has defined American film industry for over three decades. Douglas Trumbull will share his experiences in visual effects, especially in the science-fiction genre. Using slides and video, he will illustrate his most dramatic innovations of the past- and then turn his attention to the future, where he is about to revolutionize the experience of film, taking it into realms of ultra-reality.

After three decades away from Hollywood, Trumbull has returned to contribute with magnificent speciall effects in the upcoming critically acclaimed film, “The Tree of Life”. He brings to perfection his highspeed film technology that makes it possible to film at 60 to 120 frames per second, producing ultra-realistic, high-definition visuals and the experience of total immersive reality.  James Cameron, producer-director of Avatar and a Trumbull friend and fan, has announced he will use highspeed film to make his next Avatar-like production.

Douglas has been nominated for five Academy Awards, has received the American Society of Cinematographers' Lifetime Achievement Award, and was a 2010 inductee to the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. Some of the films Trumbull is renowned for is:
2001: A Space Odyssey, Andromeda Strain, Close Encounters of the Third Kind , Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner, Silent Running och Brainstorm.

Instilling curiosity and excitement, a willingness to break the rules and innovate among young filmmakers is one of his greatest pleasures.  This event will be of special interest to filmmakers, video and new-media producers, and science-fiction film buffs.
