Circom-conference in Malmö

It´s decided - the 30th annual Circom-conference will be held in Malmö on May 16 – 20th 2012. Several hundred European media producers and policy makers will gather and discuss public service development in Europe.

- I am proud that SVT has the honor of hosting this great gathering of European media producers. Regional news and programs produced throughout the country are the backbone of public service in Sweden and in Europe. Without reflection - and the presence of - the whole country public service would lose some of its legitimacy, says SVT's CEO Eva Hamilton.

In the centre of the conference is the Prix Circom gala , where prizes are awarded to the best regional television productions in Europe.

SVT is hosting the event in cooperation with Malmö University, Region Skåne,Malmö City, MEDEA and Media Evolution.

It is the first time that the Circom conference is held in Sweden.

Circom is a European gathering of broadcasters who transmit or produce regionally. Circom has about 400 members. In addition to the large annual conference their work includes education, lobbying and co-production.
