Happens at: Foo Café

1 November, 2012 - 20:39

Foo Café in Malmö is one of our members at Media Evolution. They have been up and running for a little over six months now, so we decided to ask a few questions.

What happens at Foo Café at the moment?
Our focus is always on creating and organizing different meetings for everyone who is interested in IT. Foo Café's vision is that every day should be like a conference, all year round. I'm getting close to realizing that vision. At the moment we're arranging between three to eight events each week (seminars, workshops, mingle, etc.). However, to go all the way there has to be more companies who are willing to commit and who wish to be able to go to an independent meeting place to strengthen their brand.

What inspires you and your organization at the moment?
The environment and the collaboration with my partners as well as the other companies at Media Evolution City inspire me. To have the opportunity to work in this building gives me and all of my visitors a boost. (We have so far had over 2200 visitors since our start last spring.)

What are your plans for the future? Any challenges?
I've just hired two new employees who will help out with the practical matters surrounding our events. The challenge here lies within having well documented routines that will help to simplify and better our work. It's always inspiring to further develop the concept of Foo Café so that we, in 2013, can start up Foo Café in Stockholm (since a lot of people have expressed a wish that we do so). I also have interesting projects going on together with Malmö University, Lund University, W3C as well as several others which could lead to interesting opportunities.

What are you working on right now that we shouldn't miss?
It's hard to say since we're doing so many different events. We do have several interesting breakfast seminars which many should find interesting. Please visit www.foocafe.org to read more!
