Future Learning + Media Evolution

16 February, 2011 - 09:21

The Flexible Learning network, with around 80 members from companies and organisations in southern Sweden, was founded in 2003 and managed the three-year project "Future Learning" with the objective of strengthening skills enhancement in the region through knowledge-sharing in new media. The network, which was previously run by Region Skåne, has been merged with Media Evolution and the project is now managed by us.

The need of competent and skilful employees for fast-growing sectors will increase substantially in the future. The very large number of people entering retirement will imply a strongly increasing need of skills-transfer among employees – not least within health and social care.

The traditional educational system naturally fills the most important role in providing requisite expertise, but does not cover all needs. Further education and training within public organisations and private companies need to become more flexible and cost-efficient. Learning is a lifelong process, and the related technology, tools and methods are available today.

We share knowledge
The Future Learning project embraces a selection of social media functions (such as blogs, communities and Wikis) so as to facilitate knowledge-sharing in companies and organisations.

Informal learning takes place each day at workplaces, but also increasingly often around the clock in sites such as Wikipedia and other communities. This form of learning is driven by strong commitment characterised by dialogue, joint action, openness and a will to share one's knowledge and experiences. How can such learning be conveyed in an organisational context? It is this aspect that we wish to establish in this project.

Strengthens the region's innovation systems
The transfer of the project from Region Skåne to Media Evolution will sharpen the region's innovation systems and assemble all ventures within media sectors under one roof.

The Future Learning project is managed by us and initiated by the sector for e-learning. The owner of the project is Business Region Skåne, and the partners are Malmö University, Blekinge County Council, the Neurology Clinic of Skåne University Hospital, Labmedicin Skåne, and the City of Helsingborg.
