MIGRATION I ARABISK FILM
Migration är ett lika komplicerat som väl nyttjat ämne inom filmen. Migration kräver en orsak och en motivation – detta utgör alltsom oftast kärnan i dess skildring. På samma gång är migration en process, som inte endast stannar vid de svårigheter som uppkommer under resan från det ena landet till det andra, utan ofta fortlöper efter ankomsten genom integration och acklimatisering.
Filmen är ett berättande medium. Den har ofta en storslagen och överdådig effekt på dess publik, och på samma gång en oslagbar förmåga att kommunicera politiska och sociala budskap. Migrationsfilmer har en särskild status i såväl den arabiska som internationella filmkulturen – det finns ett stort antal filmfestivaler med migration och exil som tematisk utgångspunkt, och migrationsfilmen har i allt högre grad kommit utveckla ett eget formspråk.
Malmo Arab Film Festival har sedan sin första upplaga, varit angelägen att ge särskilt utrymme för migrationsfilmer. Detta året visas sex filmer under programmet ”Immigration Films”. Utmärkande för migrationsfilm är ofta att de produceras och regisseras av filmskapare med en direkt koppling till migrationsfrågor – ofta utgör integration och acklimatisering det huvudsakliga ämnet i migrationsfilmen. Migrationsfilmens breda ämnesfält gör att den har möjlighet att inbegripa alla typer av filmer – allt från långfilmer till dokumenterärer och barn- och ungdomsfilmer.

Migration is a complicated, as well as well used, subject in film. Migration demands a cause and motivation—this constitutes the core. At the same time, migration is a process, which not only endures the journey from one home to new, but continues after the arrival through integration and acclimatization.
Film is a narrative medium. It often has a grandiose effect on its audience, and at the same time carries an incredibly ability to communicate social and political messages. Migration films has a special status in the arab film culture, as well as in the international—there are a great number of film festivals with migration and exile as thematic premise, and the migration film has more and more come to develop an unique idom.
Malmo Arab Film Festival has since its first edition, been clear about giving a special room for migration films. This year six films goes under the programme ”Immigration Films”. Characteristic for migration film is that its often produced or directed by a film maker with direct connection to subjects regarding migrations—often the process of integration and acclimatization the main topic of the films. The migration film broad field of subject makes it transparent in form and tune —it embodies everything from feature films to documentaries
and children- and youth films.
